Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL)

With a vision to ‘Cultivate one Million children in India as Neoteric Innovators’, Atal Innovation Mission is establishing Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) in schools across India. The objective of this scheme is to foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds; and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, and physical computing. ATL is a workspace where young minds can give shape to their ideas through hands-on do-it-yourself mode; and learn innovation skills. Young children will get a chance to work with tools and equipment to understand the concepts of STEM . St. Kabir School is one of the schools in Vadodara to get the facilities of ATL by the government of India. A workshop in the form of a lab is set up in the school to foster the creativity and innovations of children’s minds. The teachers are given 5 day training for it by the expertise faculty from STEMpedia.

 

Activity for Class 1: Blooming Stem Flowers

  • Identify how water sticks together.
  • Create paper flowers that can bloom in the water.
  • Observe their flowers in the water.
  • Make connections from the experiment to real-life applications, such as water moving through plants

 

Activity for Class 2: Paper Chromotography

  • Students will be able to explain the process how roots take up water from soil and distribute it to different parts of plants
  • describe different practical methods for performing paper chromatography.

 

Activity for Class 5: Use of Screw drivers and spanners

  • Children will know and learn to use various mechanical tools

 

Activity for Class 6: Making of paper Circuit

  • Learners understand the basics of Electronics and the difference between Electrical and Electronics.
  • Learners will gain understanding about essential electronic components. They will understand about conductors and insulators
  • Learners will be equipped to make circuits on paper.

 

Activity for Class 7: Introduction to Bread Board

  • Learners understand the basics of Electronics and its components
  • Learners will gain understanding about essential electronic components and safety measures.
  • Learners will be equipped to create a simple circuit on a breadboard

 

Activity for Class 8: Bread Boards

  • Learners understand the basics of Electronics and its components
  • Learners will gain understanding about essential electronic components and safety measures.
  • Learners will be equipped to create a simple circuit on a breadboard

 

Activity for Class 9: Coding with Pictoblocks

  • To understand the real-world application of coding
  • To know how coding impacts our daily lives
  • To learn what exactly is coding in context to computer science
